About this tour
The karst region of Puerto Rico is unlike anywhere else on the island. Carved over millions of years by water filtering through ancient limestone, this landscape reveals dramatic canyon walls where swallow birds nest in the crevices, and deep cave systems home to colonies of bats. At the heart of it all is Charco Azul — a stunning natural pool fed by water that has traveled through the rock itself, emerging crystal clear and impossibly blue. Your guide will lead you through the caves, explain the geology of the karst, and give you time to swim in one of Puerto Rico's most breathtaking hidden spots. What makes this experience truly complete is that the karst extends all the way to the coastline — and after the hiking and cave adventure, we wind down at Puerto Nuevo Beach, one of the most important beaches on the north coast of Puerto Rico. This beach has earned the prestigious Blue Waters Flag for 7 consecutive years, a recognition reserved for beaches with the most pristine and clean waters in the world. At the shore you'll find a variety of food establishments where you can make a lunch stop and enjoy authentic seafood from Vega Baja — the land of fishermen and Taíno culture — before we make our way back to San Juan.
